9 Days Uganda Rwanda Tracking Safari

The 9 days Uganda Rwanda Safari adventure takes you to Kibale forest national park that habits variety of primates and none other than is the great chimpanzees and are either for chimpanzee trekking or chimpanzee habituation, visit the Bwindi impenetrable national park that habits the big number of mountain gorillas in the world, visit the volcanoes national park, lies in northwestern Rwanda and borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. The national park is known as a haven for the mountain gorilla. It is home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains (Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo), which are covered in rainforest and bamboo. The park was the base for the zoologist Dian Fossey. Activities encountered include the chimpanzee trekking, chimpanzee tours, Uganda gorilla trekking, Uganda gorilla tracking, and gorilla tracking expedition!

Day1: Kampala–Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart Kampala after breakfast by road via Mityana to Fort Portal. The drive takes about 4 to 5 hours through lush plantations. Arrive in Fort Portal / Kibale Forest in time for lunch. After lunch you may have a community walk or visit the Crater lakes region for their spectacular view. Dinner and overnight at Kyaninga lodge/Ndali lodge/Kibale safari lodge/Kibale primate lodge/Kibale forest camp, meal plan: H/B

Day 2: Kibale Chimpanzee trekking-Bigodi wetlands walk

After breakfast, transfer to Kanyanchu Tourist centre for briefing before tracking the chimpanzees. There are more than 90% chances of encountering habituated chimps. The park is only accessible on foot; there are no motorable tracks open to tourists. This walk will provide you with the opportunity to see a wide range of flora and fauna. View a variety of butterflies, birds and other insects. Have a tour of the crater region around Ndali lodge. In the afternoon enjoy a nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland where there are a variety of birds and monkey species. Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day 3: Kibale Forest-Bwindi forest national park

After breakfast, drive via the fabled mountain of the moon scenic view to the Bwindi impenetrable national park and you will arrive in evening and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B

Day4: Uganda Gorilla Tracking

After an early morning breakfast and a thorough briefing by the park guide, start your gorilla tracking expedition in the green forests of Bwindi. Gorilla tracking can be strenuous and tough because of the challenging topography of Bwindi forest. You will have to carry a packed lunch and drinking water, and wear comfortable boots or strong shoes or jungle shoes appropriate for steep muddy slopes and also carry a light rain jacket as Bwindi forest weather is unreliable. Walking sticks will be obtainable from the park rangers. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight, meal plan: F/B

Day5: Bwindi-Volcanoes National Park

Take an early breakfast at your accommodation prior to the driving to Rwanda via the Katuna border with lunch en-route. Upon your arrival rest at your lodge as you wait for your next day gorilla tracking in the mist. Check in at Gorilla nest lodge/Lebombou lodge/Kinigi guest house. Meal plan: F/B

Day6: Rwanda Gorilla Tracking

In the morning at 7:30am, you will assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing in the morning together with your trekking gear and drinking water and packed lunch. Later ascend in the forest to track the gorillas, an activity that will take you 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the apes in their natural wild. After meeting and staying in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of one hour, descend back to your hotel for relaxation. In the evening, you may go for nature walk or visit the Banyarwanda community. Dinner and overnight stay as above. Meal plan: F/B

Day7: volcanoes-Nyungwe forest

In the morning after a relaxed breakfast, you will transfer to Nyungwe forest with lunch en-route and upon your arrival take an evening nature walk around the tea plantation. Dinner and over night at Nyungwe forest lodge/Gisakura guest house, meal plan: F/B

Day8: Primate Tracking in Nyungwe Forest

We set off this morning after early breakfast to discover the scenic splendor of the area. We shall penetrate Nyungwe forest to search and have a closer look of these primates. The park guides are experienced and knowledgeable about Nyungwe wildlife, they will provide you with all the relevant information about the behavior of the primates, that is, and how they feed, reproduce and pray with each other, thus making your trip informative. Among the primates include; the chimpanzees, the handsome L’hoest monkey, the endangered golden monkeys, strong troops of the delightfully acrobatic Angola Columbus, vervet monkeys, Silver Monkey, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys and so on. Evening take the canopy walk to view more primates, birds and canopies, the trek will also expose you to excellent birding. Nyungwe forest harbors almost 300 bird species of which two dozen are restricted to a handful of montane forests on the Albertine Rift. These include; the great blue Turaco and the Rwenzori Turaco, paradise flycatcher, a long-tailed blue, orange and white bird, and the forest hornbills among others. Return to the lodge for lunch, relax and wait for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day9: Return to Kigali–Departure

We follow the Gisakura Tea Estates and Lake Kivu after breakfast. (2-3hrs walk).Embark on your trip to Kigali for your flight back home with lunch en-route.
